Slow down my dears'
Weekly routines: it can be a vicious and chaotic cycle. Sometimes we get so caught up in the craziness of things that we tend to forget what is most important in our lives. Think about for a second what Douglas Pagels says in this invaluable quote. Along the way from point A to B, squeeze in a little moment to make someone feel special and to make them smile. It doesn't take much. Sometimes it is the "little things" that make a big impression.
-Get Creative-
-While the chicken is cooking in the oven, go sneak in a little bit of the "tickle monster" with your little one. Be careful, giggles are contagious. Oh, don't forget the chicken. :)
-If you have older ones, turn off the T.V., crank some music and just let it go while they help you prepare dinner. No worries, the broccoli won't judge.
-Out of the blue HUGS, no goodbyes required.
-Bring the family and dinner back to the dinner table. Electronics and T.V. are not welcome in family togetherness. Engage in stress-free and non-confrontational conversation. This will prevent having to drag them to the table next time.
-My teenage son gets a kick out of this one: Join him in one of his video games. Let's just say I get laughed at! Or on warm sunny days I play (attempt) basketball or throw (attempt) a football. Just being together is where its at!
- Just remember, "Little Snippets" of attention and love goes a long way.
- Dance like no one is watching; sing like no one is listening
What special things do you do for your kids? I would love to hear from you! -knightofccd@gmail.com
